An Update Regarding COVID-19
Mar 17 2020
Due to the state of emergency declared for Ontario, and the shutting down of the Shadowbox Theatre, two upcoming workshops will be postponed until a later date TBD. If you are an artist, record financial losses and stay tuned for information from the Canada Council for the Arts.
Today, Premiere Doug Ford has announced a state of emergency for the province of Ontario. This has resulted in the closure of many types of businesses, including theatres. In response, Tall Tale Theatre Company will be postponing two of our upcoming workshops: “The Actor’s Body” and “From Page to Stage”.
These workshops were going to take place over the months of March and April at the Shadowbox Theatre. The Shadowbox Theatre has announced that it will be closed until May 1st, 2020, thus resulting in the cancellation of the workshops that were to take place there.
New dates will be determined by Tall Tale Theatre Company and the Shadowbox Theatre within the upcoming short-term period, and pending the quickly- changing climate of COVID-19.
Information will be available on our website for further updates as time passes.
A message for artists: The Canada Arts Council is asking artists to keep detailed accounts of financial losses as a result of COVID-19, and is working on a plan with the federal government to help those of us who make a living in the arts sector. You can keep up to date on information regarding this at their website.
Please stay safe, have compassion, and show love to each other.

Uniting Artists in a Sketchy Way...
October 28th 2019
Coming up in just over a week is "In the Face of It", a series of 6 original dramatic sketches written by 6 emerging Canadian playwrights, each produced by theatre companies from Windsor, Fort Erie, and Toronto, including Tall Tale! Each sketch is written based off of a photograph from Douglas Macellan's "In the Face of It". This is a fantastic event that strives to bring together Canadian playwrights, companies, actors, directors, and patrons in one big evening of original theatre.
We are delighted to be working on a brand new play “Fierce Grace” by Karen McDonald featuring the very talented Kristen McMillan & Carla Gyemi!
Being hosted at Sho Art, Spirit, and Performance, performances will take place on November 8th and 9th, at 8pm. Hope to see you there!
Another Month, Another Workshop!
September 8th 2019
Though we are taking a weekend break from rehearsing “Commedia Noir”, Tall Tale is still hard at work providing top quality acting workshops for Windsor-Essex. Along with our “Acting For The Camera” Workshop, we present our “Applied Acting Techniques” class. This 5 week class will guide you through different eras of theatre each week. Through monologue exploration, advanced acting techniques will be explored and refined. If you are looking to heighten and refine your performances, this workshop is for you.
*** It is recommended that students of this class have prior on-stage performance experience. ***
Runs October 6th - November 15th at The Shadowbox Theatre.
